East Coast Bound!

It has been such a crazy week in our neck of the woods! We got such exciting news yesterday about the next chapter in our Navy life and I'm so excited to share it with everyone. We received our orders yesterday for our next permanent station and we appreciate all the prayers and crossed fingers because we are headed back to the East Coast! Norfolk, VA to be exact! I was so excited yesterday I started googling how far we were away from everyone and we are 3 hours and 9 minutes from Raleigh, 3 hours and 29 minutes from Dunn, and 3 hours and 40 minutes from Atlantic Beach!! MUCH better than the 16 hours we have to NC now :)

The details have slowly started to trinkle in since I talked to most of the family yesterday. James was assigned to the USS Theodore Roosevelt which is an aircraft carrier. I'll give you a little bit of information on his ship.

The USS Roosevelt is known by crewmembers as "the Big Stick" or within the navy simply as TR. It is the fourth Nimitz-class supercarrier and her radio call sign is Rough Rider (nice!). Over 5,500 people work on the carrier including air wing. I found a video on youtube about life on an aircraft carrier and it is actually the USS Roosevelt so I'll post it below if you want to check it out.

But before James can get to the Roosevelt, he is actually heading to Pensacola, FL for his C School. He got one of the longest C Schools - he'll be learning about how to work on the Sattelite Communication systems on the ship. He will be there for 80 days and should definitely be back in Norfolk by December 1. (Sara, just in time for the wedding!) Tentatively, we are planning to have the truck loaded and heading out of Highwood, IL on Monday, August 15 and arriving in Virginia on that Wednesday. That gives James some time to see the new place and help get the furniture unloaded and then he will actually fly to Pensacola from VA on that Friday. He reports to C School on Saturday, August 20. It will be our first seperation since boot camp, BUT I can visit and when I do it is to sunny skies and beaches! I'm already excited about celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary there!

So that is our plan for now. James is actually turning in our packet for the move as we speak so hopefully we'll have some dates firmed up in the next few days. We really can't tell you how excited we are to be heading back to the East Coast and a little closer to home. I don't think we really knew how bad we wanted Virginia until we got it. We were sitting on the balcony last night talking about all the things we are going to be able to do,  places we can go, and people we are going to get to see. Just amazing. We have so many things to look forward to!

To close out this happy blog post, we received our pictures back from the photographer we had taken the weekend of James Howard's graduation. I'm partial, but I think they are fantastic :)

Keep us in your thoughts as we drive to NC on Friday for the big Beasley Reunion and beach vacation! We are so excited to see everyone and have a whole week to just lay in the sun and have no worries :)

Until next time,
James and Jules
