Pirate Surprises and Baby Blue

Happy Spring to everyone! Time is flying by, I can’t believe April is already here. March seems to be a bit of a blur with all the excitement that happened in our house. Obviously finding out we are having a little boy was the big news around here, BUT we did have one other event that was a pretty big deal. I am not sure if anyone has ever explored our blog and read the About Me section. In case you haven’t, before I changed it today this was the description:

“We are two twenty somethings, madly in love, and in the adventure of a lifetime. James is a member of the United States Navy, so our future holds exploring new places, many oceans, and enjoying the love we've found in each other. We're so happy to share our experiences, and can't wait for visitors where ever the tide may take us!”

So what is the big deal about this? Well someone in our house is no longer a twenty something.  James Howard turned 30 on March 23!! I couldn’t let this momentous occasion go by without SOMETHING, so naturally, I had to do it right…and by right I mean a big day of surprises. Two surprises in one! James thought he was going to play golf with his brothers on Saturday morning in Dunn, but he got his first surprise when lots of his favorite boys started arriving at the house. James would see a car and say “What’s he doing here?” and he quickly caught on that they were all going to play golf with him. He works so hard and rarely gets to see his friends I wanted him to have a fun day relaxing and spending time with his favorite boys.

Successful surprise #1! So while he was gone, despite awful, awful weather…we threw together another surprise. A pirate themed (shock) cookout complete with everyone being decked out as pirates or in their best purple and gold. Surprise #2! He had a wonderful birthday so thank you to everyone who helped, came out despite the awful weather, and especially for dressing up in your finest pirate and ECU attire. Below are a few pictures.

And in other exciting news this past weekend my mom came up and we began Project: Mason’s Nursery! We got it all painted and cleaned out and ready for lots of magical baby things. Since we are doing Navy and White bedding and white furniture, we painted it a super light blue that I love! It is very calming. The crib comes sometime this week so that will be fun for James to put together while I watch and laugh J I am sure once that comes it will actually start to look like a nursery which is VERY exciting. Here are some before and after pictures.

And Sunday we had a beautiful Easter. I am now 23 weeks and feeling great. James finally can feel Mason kick, and I love watching his face when he gives him a good whack. Our talks always seem to drift to what kind of little guy Mason will be, we just can't wait to meet him. Here are some pictures from before church and my 23 week belly picture! We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and stay tuned for more nursery pictures as we keep getting ready for our little monster!

23 weeks!

Lots of love,
